At Dial-e-Punjab (www.dialepunjab.com) we publish a business directory and news for Punjab. This policy explains what we collect, why, who else can see it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It covers this website only.

What we collect
We do not require an account to read anything on this site. You can browse every listing and article without giving us your name.
We collect personal information only when you choose to send it:
- Contact form — your name, email address, subject and message. We store the enquiry and email a copy to our team so we can reply.
- Newsletter — your email address, if you subscribe.
- Business listing enquiries — anything you include when you ask us to add or correct a listing.
We use this to answer you and, where you have subscribed, to send updates. We do not sell it, and we do not send marketing to people who only used the contact form.
What we count without identifying you
Each listing shows how many times its page has been opened. That is a single running total on the listing — we do not record who opened it, your IP address, or any identifier alongside it. Our web host also keeps standard server logs, as every host does, for security and troubleshooting.
Star ratings
Listings can be rated out of five. To stop the same person rating a listing over and over, we store a one-way scrambled version of your IP address (a hash) alongside your rating, and use it only to check whether that visitor has already rated that listing in the previous thirty minutes. We do not keep the address itself, the hash cannot be turned back into one, and it is not used to identify you or to link your activity across the site.
Cookies
This site sets a session cookie so pages work correctly as you move between them. If you are a member of our team and log in to the admin area, we set additional cookies to keep you signed in, including a longer-lived one if you tick “Remember me”. These are not set for ordinary visitors.
Third parties described below may also set cookies in your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some forms may be harder to submit.
Advertising
We show advertising on this site to pay for running it.
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or optout.networkadvertising.org.
- Third-party ad networks other than Google may also serve ads here and set their own cookies, which we do not control. Their own privacy policies govern that use.
Advertisements are labelled. We do not let advertisers influence our editorial coverage or where a business appears in the directory.
Spam protection
Our forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which tells automated submissions apart from real ones. To do that, Google collects hardware and software information from your device and browser and sends it to Google for analysis. This is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. We use it only to keep spam out of our forms.
Embedded content
Some pages embed content hosted elsewhere — maps, videos or images. Embedded content behaves as though you had visited that other site directly, so the site it comes from can collect data about you and set its own cookies. We have no control over that.
Who else sees your information
Enquiries you send are handled by our own team and delivered by our email provider. We share personal information otherwise only where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect the site against abuse. We do not sell personal information to anyone.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept while they are useful for handling your request and our records, and removed when they are not. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email contact@dialepunjab.com and we will respond. If you subscribed to the newsletter, you can ask to be removed at any time and we will do it.
Children
This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
